Hi Elaine
So sorry you are going through this mess.
We ran a successful 5-day sale in Charlotte a few weeks ago, so now I'm
an expert!!
Your emotions are obviously running very high at the moment. My opinion
is that when you are running on emotion is a bad time to make a decision. I
think that if you ran a 5-day sale in your current frame of mind you would
not be successful. Your fear and anger would transmit to the prospective
buyers and make them wonder what was wrong. So my first piece of advice
would be to wait until you are calmer. Use some time gathering information
before you decide what to do.
My second piece of advice would be to talk to someone who has some
knowledge about what the options are. Are you behind on your mortgage
payments? Have you spoken to the bank? They can tell you the options about
the mortgage - forbearance or short sale being two possibilities.
Is your husband on the mortgage also? If so, he has equal responsibility
with you to pay it off. Have you divorced? Sometimes a divorce settlement
will solve a problem like this (if you have a good lawyer.)
Sometimes we all are blinded by emotion to options that are not what we
would consider in normal circumstances. Now it's time to think outside the
box a bit. People on this forum are very helpful - keep writing.
Rosemarie
