Jim,
There is no pattern to the inspection, initial bidding, and
round-robin. They differ according to who is running the sale, and who
shows up. The only common factor is the attempt on the part of the
sellers to discern a pattern, and predict an outcome. Everyone does
this, myself included. Sellers are always surprised when their
predictions are far off the mark.
The most important thing is for the seller to maintain a neutral public
position and let the bids fall where they may. Try not to play
favorites; remember you are just the referee. This is the path to the
highest bid from the best buyer.
I have changed your subject line to Place/Day so that people who don't
read every email on this Forum can focus on your experiences if they
choose to follow your experiences. This format has proved useful to
people who join the Forum long after your sale is completed.
