[5-DayForum] Sanford, MI 5-Day Sale -- Going to Contract

Folks,

Less than three full days after the round-robin ended, we've signed the purchase agreement with the buyers -- without the involvement of the real estate agent they'd been working with. We met with the buyers twice today. With the realtor not present, things were just so much more relaxed between us. It felt much more like the people-to-people interaction we were envisioning when we started down this path.

The closing date is set for mid-September. That gives us time to head out to Colorado to find a home to rent for the next year while we build a new home out there. That was yet another advantage of the 5-Day Method. We could start negotiations on the timing of the closing date based on our needs then try to be as flexible as possible to accommodate the needs of our buyers. In this buyer's market, without a couple of other buyers waiting in the wings, we wouldn't be able to negotiate much of anything, I think.

We've been sharing the quick account of the sale with many folks who wanted to know how things turned out. Adjectives like "amazing" and "unbelievable" weren't unusual. The staff at the newspaper who handled the insert for us were tickled by our success.

It's not a done deal until closing, of course, but we're very satisfied with how things are shaking out so far.

Regards,

Mark Conway
